Biology school class from Sehnde visits the IESW

On 11 September, an advanced biology course (Year 13) at KGS Sehnde visited the Mineralogy Department of the Institute of Earth System Sciences (IESW). The students and their teacher Jennifer Panke were particularly interested in the living conditions on the early Earth, as well as volcanism and its connection to earlier extinction events. The soon-to-be school graduates were also given an insight into the processes at the university and the IESW's main areas of study. It is planned to organise similar visits from secondary schools to the IESW in the future in order to familiarise the pupils with earth system research and its significance for our society. The advanced geography course at KGS Sehnde has already expressed their interest.
