Theses for students

The research of the Soil Mineralogy Group is interested in the composition and quantification of soil minerals, the nature of mineral interfaces, the influence of minerals on biogeochemical soil processes. Furthermore, the formation, transformation and reactivity of soil minerals on different spatial and temporal scales are investigated.
The focus of the working group is on the analysis of soil minerals as source and sink for nutrients and pollutants, as reducing and oxidizing agents for various classes of substances and as temporary storage for organic carbon.
Main research topics
- General soil science and soil protection
- Biogeochemistry of major and trace elements
- Coupling of biogeochemical elemental cycles
- Process kinetics Interface chemistry
Further topics of our interest
- Quantification and characterization of soil minerals
- Formation, transformation and reactivity of soil minerals
- Molecular mechanisms of nutrient and pollutant binding
- Mineral-organic associations soil colloids
